Where you operate in the UK materially changes what AI and digital funding you can access. Here’s a 2026 map of regional and devolved support, cited to official sources. (dgm implements osFoundry as an independent partner.)
The principle: location matters
Unlike R&D tax relief (which is UK-wide), much adoption funding is regional or devolved. So the first question is always: where do you operate? That determines which schemes are open to you.
England
- Made Smarter Adoption — for SME manufacturers, delivered region-by-region (North East/West, West Midlands, West of England, Yorkshire & Humber, East Midlands, London). Up to £20,000 at 50%.
- Growth Hubs — ~39 local, free gateways to advice and the Business Growth Service; local grants vary by hub and combined authority.
- Investment Zones / Freeports — location-conditional tax reliefs for capital investment and hiring in designated sites.
Scotland
- Techscaler and the Techscaler/Scottish Enterprise MVP Grant (£5k–£50k);
- Scottish Enterprise (R&D and growth support) and Scottish EDGE (competitive awards).
Wales
- SMARTCymru — R&D matching funds (up to 50%);
- Business Wales — support and the Flexible Skills Programme; plus the 75% KTP rate for eligible Welsh SMEs.
Northern Ireland
- Invest NI Digital Transformation Flexible Fund — £5k–£20k at up to 70%;
- NI Innovation Vouchers — £5k for university/college expertise.
UK-wide routes on top
Everywhere, you also have R&D tax relief, KTPs, BridgeAI, and British Business Bank finance. The best results come from layering regional/devolved support with these.
Where osFoundry and dgm fit
Wherever you are, the AI build is the same. dgm scopes and implements AI projects on osFoundry — usage-priced, bring-your-own-key, self-hostable in your own cloud or an EU region for UK data-sensitive work (osFoundry publishes US/EU/JP regions, not a UK one).
dgm is an independent integration partner with zero integrations so far, and not a grant-writing service. Check your local Growth Hub or devolved body for live local grants. To scope a fundable AI project, book a consultation with dgm. General information; confirm current local schemes with the relevant body.
